奉差遣向外邦人传福音 Paul's Ministry to the Gentiles
3：1 因此，我保罗为你们外邦人作了基督耶稣被囚的，替你们祈祷（此句乃对照 14 节所加）。2 谅必你们曾听见:神赐恩给我，将关切你们的职分托付我，3 用启示使我知道福音的奥秘，正如我以前略略写过的。1 This is the reason that I Paul am a prisoner for Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles— 2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you, 3 and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words,.
这里的关键词：stewardship 有“管理、管家”的含义。与前面的 workmanship 相对应。Workmanship强调神的主动者地位；stewardship 则着重基督徒的能动性和责任。这里，可爱的保罗把基督赐恩给他，作为一个客观事实来接受，并坦然地告之弟兄，但保罗明确，这不是为了他自己的好处，乃是为了众弟兄来管理。这点认识非常重要，在服侍弟兄时就不会倨才自傲了。
3：4 你们念了，就能晓得我深知基督的奥秘，5 这奥秘在以前的世代没有叫人知道，像如今藉着圣灵启示他的圣使徒和先知一样。4 when you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ. 5 In former generations this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:
英文“my insight into the mystery ”，比“深知”要谦虚一些。我们读经文，也要有 insight(透视)，透过表面的意思，看到文字背后的深意。上帝的奥秘在耶稣。耶稣身上的 mystery 需要藉着圣灵的 insight 才能看到。这奥秘是旧约时代的人没有看见的。所以耶稣代表了一个崭新时代的开始。
3：6 这奥秘就是外邦人在基督耶稣里，藉着福音，得以同为后嗣，同为一体，同蒙应许。6 that is, the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
对于犹太人来说，外邦人在福音里同蒙应许，是一个极大的惊奇，因此也是一个过去未曾看见的奥秘。耶稣把这个奥秘启示给保罗，保罗为此兴奋雀跃，也深感重任在身，念念不忘。这是他的负担，也是他的荣耀。主给我们每人的属灵负担是什么呢？
3：7 我作了这福音的执事，是照神的恩赐，这恩赐是照他运行的大能赐给我的。7 Of this gospel I have become a servant according to the gift of God's grace that was given me by the working of his power.
这里有一个词值得我们注意：“运行的”（the working of his power）。我们身上的恩赐，是神给的。但神是不是“一次性”给的？如果靠的是神“运行的大能”，那就是连续不断的赐予，就好像接通的电源。这也就是我们与圣灵的关系：Walk by，靠着他不断的供应，是连着源头的那种供应。在这个意义上，神赐给我们的能力才是“无可限量”的。。
3：8 我本来比众圣徒中最小的还小，然而他还赐我这恩典，叫我把基督那测不透的丰富传给外邦人。 8 Although I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given to me to bring to the Gentiles the news of the boundless riches of Christ,
保罗对自己过去生命经历深刻反思得出的结论。当我们反思自己过去的经历后，我们对自己的结论是什么呢？是比众圣徒中最小的还小，还是不那么小？
3：9 又使众人都明白，这历代以来隐藏在创造万物之神里的奥秘，是如何安排的，10 为要藉着教会使天上执政的、掌权的，现在得知神百般的智慧。11 这是照神从万世以前，在我们主基督耶稣里所定的旨意。9 and to make everyone see what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God who created all things; 10 so that through the church the wisdom of God in its rich variety might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was in accordance with the eternal purpose that he has carried out in Christ Jesus our Lord,
注意，保罗把地上的福音事功，直接与天上的属灵争战联系起来：为要藉着教会使天上执政的、掌权的，现在得知神百般的智慧。
3：12 我们因信耶稣，就在他里面放胆无惧，笃信不疑的来到:神面前。13 所以，我求你们不要因我为你们所受的患难丧胆，这原是你们的荣耀。12 in whom we have access to God in boldness and confidence through faith in him. 13 I pray therefore that you may not lose heart over my sufferings for you; they are your glory.
当一个基督徒定睛看在地上发生的一切时，难免会胆怯丧气，无法看清全能的上帝作为的全貌。保罗把自己为福音所经历的患难，不仅看做自己的荣耀，还看做弟兄的荣耀。因为弟兄姐妹在荣耀的肢体里是不分你我的。肢体内的爱也正是基于这样的亲近感。
